Applying for admission as a full-time freshman is easy. And the sooner you apply, the better your chance of acceptance. Just submit the following items:
- an application for admission and an application fee
- an official high-school transcript
- official SAT or ACT scores (SAT code=5810; ACT code=1744)
- a completed FASFA form
- an essay/personal statement of 250-500 words describing one of the following: the major that interests you at UB and why, what about UB makes you believe it’s the school for you, a significant experience and its impact on you, or another topic of your choice (A graded school paper may be substituted for the writing sample.)
- a resume, list of extracurricular activities and/or letters of recommendation (all optional).
Notification of admission takes place on a rolling basis, so please complete your application as soon as possible to ensure timely review.
Getting Accepted
To check your application status online, use our convenient MyUB tool. You will need your UB Login ID, which will be mailed to you after we receive your application.

- Supplemental International Applicant Information Sheet must be completed if you have or will apply for a nonimmigrant status in the United States:
- I-20 Request Form to be completed by all F1 applicants or
- Non-Immigrant Verification Form for applicants on all other non-immigrant visas
- Dependent Form to be completed by all F/J applicants who will have a dependent spouse and/or child(ren) accompanying them in the US
