Safe Space Training for UB Staff and Faculty

Safe Space is a national program that identifies LGBTQ-friendly faculty, staff, and students. The purpose of the safe space program is to make the UB campus a safer and freer environment for  all members of our community regardless of sexual orientation. The Safe Space training will provide information about how to be a supportive ally to LGBTQ students and colleagues.  Training topics  will include the role and importance of safe spaces, the components of sexuality and gender, Transgender community and gender variance, and  what it means to be an Ally. This workshop will be presented in the train the trainer format.

Courtney Jones, Director of Inter-Professional Service Learning at the University of Maryland Baltimore and her staff will facilitate the training. The training will take place on Friday, October 26th, 9:00am-3:00pm, in the Business Center, room 003. The program will begin promptly at 9:00am, lunch will be provided.
