NEH Faculty Workshop
New Directions in Humanities Programming

William H. Thumel Sr. Business Center, BC 003
April 24, 2013, 12:30-2:00 pm

David Weinstein, Senior Program Officer of the National Endowment for the Humanities will provide a brief overview of grant opportunities at the NEH. He will emphasize grant programs in public programs, including radio programs, television programs, websites, public discussion programs, and mobile tours.

After his short presentation about NEH grant programs, David and Brian Etheridge will moderate a discussion with attendees about creative ways of engaging students and public audiences in history and other humanities disciplines within the context of a digitizing world. What does “public programming” mean in an environment in which apps, MOOC’s, websites, games, and other technological innovations are blurring boundaries between higher education and public engagement? What is the role of the NEH and other funders in supporting public programs that use new technologies to engage audiences?

Participants should be prepared to share thoughts and resources about current and future trajectories of successful digital programs.

There is no charge for the workshop and lunch will be provided. Faculty members in the Yale Gordon College of Arts & Sciences are especially encouraged to attend.
