Description:

Award winning poet, speaker, journalist, publisher, and host Mahogany L. Browne presents a poetry reading and workshop centered on performance poetry in the University of Baltimore's Wright Theater, 21 W. Mt. Royal Ave. Attendees of the reading are invited to participate in the workshop directly after the reading. Browne's interactive workshop will focus on developing aesthetics, feedback methods, and revisions strategies for crafting poetry and writing for performance. Students, faculty, staff and members of the local UB community are invited to participate. This event is sponsored by the Helen P. Denit Honors Program.

Browne is the recipient of fellowships from Cave Canem and Poet's House, and is the current curator and host for the Friday Night series at the Nuyorican Poet's Café. Her poetry and prose have been widely published widely and her most recent projects include Redbone: A Biomythography, #Dear Twitter: Love Letters Hashed Out Online in 140 Characters or Less, and Swag.
