The Merrick School of Business Research Dialogue series aims to disseminate the faculty’s research to the wider community. Faculty and students from all colleges and schools are invited to join in informal talks about the Merrick School of Business faculty’s research streams. Each speaker will attempt to explain his/her research results with an emphasis on the implications for teaching and practice.

Join Mikhail Pevzner, Ph.D., associate professor of accounting as he presents ongoing research pertaining to his paper "Trust in Financial Markets."

Overview of the Topic

Societal trust is an essential element of the economic exchange. Professor Pevzner's research over the last several years has examined how societal trust impacts the investors' interpretation of the accounting information and how it impacts the demand for audit services on a country level. His talk will focus on the role of trust in economic exchange and how formal and informal institutions impact the role of accountants and auditors in a society.
