The Negotiations and Conflict Management Student Association (CNCM) invites you to attend a Domestic Sex-Trafficking Awareness event.
The purpose of this event is to educate future leaders on the importance of trauma identification and reflective practices when interacting with vulnerable populations such as sex-trafficking victims. The event highlights the intrapersonal, interpersonal, and institutional conflict which often hinders effective advocacy, identification, policy implementation, and the acquisition of victim services for sex-trafficking survivors in Maryland.
The workshop will challenge public perception s and myths that postulate sex-trafficking as an international phenomenon. As future practitioners and agents of change it is vital to understand our power and consistently reflect on its usage with the populations we serve.
Students will have the ability to: Identity the scope of sex-trafficking in Maryland Identify systemic failures and its effect on re-victimization Identify at risk populations Understand the effects of trauma on victims' behavior Identify characteristics of victims Apply State and Federal Laws to trafficking cases Understand the multilayered needs of sex trafficking victims Identify barriers to identification and treatment of sex trafficking victims.
