Description:

Mend the Gap Between Stereotypes and Reality About Mental Health

Mend the Gap is a four (4) part, interactive discussion series among peers focused on topics relating to mental health.  The series is meant to provide a safe space for individuals to openly talk and/or listen to peers share their experiences and learn from each other’s knowledge. At its core, Mend the Gap seeks to shatter stereotypes associated with mental health topics often considered “shameful” or “uncomfortable.” Our aim is to help dismantle the wall of silence built by negative perceptions.  Research shows that peers empower peers to speak out, seek necessary resources, gain a better understanding of stigmatizing language, while also practicing self-care.
