Grief Workshops: Life After Loss
Grief Workshops: Life After Loss – Facilitator: Dr. Waters
Research shows that up to 48% of college students have lost a family member or close friend within the last two years. Almost a third of college students have lost a family member or close friend within the last year (Balk, Walker & Baker, 2010). As with other life challenges that may have a negative impact on academics and relationships, students are not often aware that grief support is available on campus.
The Counseling Center offers a six (6) session interactive support group that:
- helps students begin the process of working through emotions associated with loss of a loved one
- help students learn what normal reactions to death look like
- provides a framework for understanding a healthy grief process
- increases students' awareness about strategies and resources for coping with grief
When: Tuesdays, 4:00pm – 5:00pm, located in room AC 111
If you have any questions regarding the workshops, you may contact the Counseling Center 410-837-5159.
