The Fundamentals of Islam - A Talk on Tues, Nov. 14 from 12:30-1:50 pm @ BC-225

This talk will offer all, both Muslims and non-Muslims, who have a limited understanding or lack of knowledge on the teachings of Islam, with a brief treatise giving a lucid comprehensive view of Islam. In further explaining what Muslims believe in and stand for, the speaker will explain the rational bases of Islamic beliefs. Additionally, the speaker will attempt at unveiling the wisdom behind in the Islamic modes of worship and the outlines of the Islamic way of life.

Haitham Alkhateeb, professor in the Division of Science, Information Arts and Technologies and faculty director of the Mathematics Learning Center, will discuss "The Fundamentals of Islam."  Dr. Alkhateeb is faculty advisor to both UB's Muslim Student Association and Saudi Arabian Students Association and was named "Advisor of the Year" at the 2015 Eubie Awards Ceremony.   He earned his PhD at Ohio University and taught previously at the University of Indianapolis and the University of Qatar.  Professor Alkahteeb serves on the Governor's Commission on Middle Eastern American Affairs.
