How do I obtain my accommodations?
What kind of documentation do I need?
Who will notify my professors and how?
We know how many questions can run through your mind as you carefully consider your goals and challenges and as you strive for utmost success at the University of Baltimore. The Center for Educational Access is here to support you throughout your time at UB, and we've got the answers—most of them, at least. Since we encourage independence and self-reliance, we'll still leave some of them to you.
Getting started with us is easy:
- Contact the Center for Educational Access at 410.837.4775 or at email@example.com to schedule an appointment with one of our staff members to discuss your disability, your documentation and the accommodations you are eligible to receive.
- Bring your documentation (see the Documentation Guidelines) with you to your appointment. To help the center ensure your registration process is smooth and speedy, you can also download the Request for and Consent to Release Information and bring it to your diagnostician. This will allow him or her to send documentation prior to your registration appointment or to provide it to you, so you can bring it with you to that meeting.
- Complete the intake process with a center staff member and sign the appropriate forms, depending on your disability.
- If you haven't registered for classes, meet with your adviser to begin this process as well.
Once you've registered for classes, bring your schedule to the center to sign and receive an Accommodations Letter for each class in which you wish to notify your professor about your accommodations. If you are taking online classes, you should still submit a PDF letter, signed by both yourself and a center staff member, to your instructor via email.
This step can is repeated every semester you register for classes at the University of Baltimore. This ensures that your accommodations are up to date and that we are aware of your class schedule.
Depending on your disability and accommodations, there may be other additional forms you have to sign. But don't worry about it; we'll let you know and we'll walk you through the process.
