President's Faculty Award
Sharon Glazer
Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences
Sharon Glazer, professor and chair in the Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences' Division of Applied Behavioral Sciences, is the winner of the 2021 President's Faculty Award. Prof. Glazer will be honored at an event held sometime later this year.
This meritorious award is the highest that The University of Baltimore's president may bestow upon a member of the faculty, and is based on letters of nomination from the deans to a selection committee in the Office of the Provost. It is made annually to an individual who reflects the faculty's highest standards, and who has made significant contributions to the University and its educational mission, through teaching; research; scholarly or creative activity; and service.
Prof. Glazer has brought international acclaim to the University's program in Industrial and Organizational Psychology (IOP), through her dedication to study-abroad opportunities (including a virtual study-abroad component) with the University of Barcelona, University of Pau-Bayonne, and the University of Bordeaux. Her colleagues at other institutions recommend UBalt's IOP program to their students who are interested in the field internationally. Finally, with her overseas connections, Prof. Glazer has established a Global IOP certificate program, which graduate IOP students may attain within their program of studies.
Prof. Glazer also has introduced several innovative teaching methods. Her students recently participated in X-Culture, an international management and business school project that gathers students and faculty from around the world into virtual teams to prepare a proposal for a given company. This work leads to a global summit with company heads. UBalt's participating students worked on a proposal that allowed them to interact with representatives from 10 Silicon Valley firms.
