Congratulations, you’ve made it to another milestone in your life!
We want you to celebrate, but we also want you to “live it up” in a healthy manner.
Know the facts:
- Each year, there are approximately 80,000 deaths attributable to excessive alcohol use in the United States.
- Alcohol travels through your bloodstream and can damage your brain, stomach, liver, kidneys and muscles.
- When you binge drink — or drink a lot over a short period of time — the risks go up; not only is there the serious danger of alcohol poisoning, but if you're unable to move or think clearly you can do reckless things that are unsafe or even lethal.
Safe birthdays are the best kinds of birthdays. It's OK to choose not to drink, but if you do drink, UB's Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs program is here to give you safety tips and advice.
