Are students required to attend an orientation program?
It is required that all first-year students complete the orientation program. The information given at orientation is important to your success at UB. If you are unable to attend, please let us know and we will send you follow-up information.

When will students receive information about orientation?
Orientation invitations are emailed to accepted students at least one month prior to orientation.

How do students RSVP for orientation once they receive their invitation?
Students can RSVP for an orientation session at Click the Orientation RSVP button to complete your registration.

Do I need to RSVP for orientation?
Yes. To assist us in planning appropriately, please be sure to RSVP. If you are unable to attend, please let us know and we will send you follow-up information.

Can I RSVP for orientation over the phone or by fax?
No. We are not able to assign students to an orientation session by phone or fax.

I cannot attend on the specified date that my orientation is happening. Can I attend a different one?
Each orientation is planned with content specific to a unique UB population (freshman, transfer, and graduate). If you are unable to attend your orientation, please let us know and we will send you follow-up information.

What will students do during the orientation program?
During orientation, you will participate in academic sessions, meet with representatives from your chosen academic department and or/academic advisers from the area of your intended major, and discuss your plans for the semester. Orientation is also your opportunity to connect with the UB community before your first day of classes, meet with new peers, and learn important information about life at UB from current students.

Can my family members attend orientation?
Guests are permitted at freshman and transfer student orientation. While the program is not required for family members, it is an excellent time for them to get information and helpful hints on how to support you through your college experience. Orientation also provides family members an opportunity to ask questions and get to know some of the students, staff and faculty that will be working with you throughout your college career.

What will family members do during the parent and family orientation?
Family members are permitted to attend freshman and transfer student orientation only. Our family orientation program is a fabulous opportunity for family members get an introduction to what their student will experience at UB, and runs at the same time as the student program, but offers some unique sessions specifically designed for parents and family.

What is the cost of the orientation program and what does it cover?
There is no cost for orientation. However, parking in UB garages on orientation days is $7 for students and guests ($5 if you present a valid BeeCard).

What should I bring to orientation?
Bring with you a valid photo ID (a valid driver's license, state issued ID card, passport or military ID). We recommend that you wear comfortable clothes and footwear. We will provide you with a pen and a notebook as a part of the experience.

Family members and guests should wear comfortable clothes and footwear, and a notebook and pen.

What time does orientation start and when should I expect to be finished?

Where should I park for orientation? 
Parking in UB garages will be $7 for all students and guests ($5 if you present a valid BeeCard). Two parking lots will be available on orientation days. Use our campus map to find the garage that's most convenient for you.

  • 80 W. Oliver St.
  • Pay in-lane with credit or debit card.
  • Cash is accepted by the cashier only; you must show a valid Bee Card and driver's license/state-issued ID to receive the UB cash rate.

Maryland Avenue Garage

 Will we be given a campus tour during orientation?
Campus tours will be offered at the conclusion of the freshman and transfer student orientation programs. Bus tours and walking tours will be offered at that time.

Can my friend/significant other /sibling come to orientation with me?
We strongly recommend that guests be active stakeholders in a student’s success. Please be aware that you and your guest will not be together for all sessions and events. Guests are not permitted to attend student-specific sessions with you. Unfortunately, due to space limitations graduate orientation is not able to accommodate any guests.

I'm an international student. Where do I go for orientation? 
We recommend international students attend orientation and International Student Welcome Day. Each program will focus on different elements of being successful at the University of Baltimore.

Can I attend orientation if I haven't been accepted yet?
No. Orientation is only for students who have been accepted to the University of Baltimore. If you are interested in learning more about UB, contact the Offices of Admission.

How do I find off-campus housing?
There are many great  housing options  near UB Midtown. If you live near campus, you'll not only be steps from classes, but also close to your friends and all the conveniences and luxuries city life provides. For more information, contact Housing.

How do I buy a parking pass for the academic year?
If you are planning to drive to campus, you must purchase a parking pass for the academic year. For more information, contact Parking & Transportation.
