Philip Deloria is the University archivist for the University of Baltimore. He was also an archivist at the Iron Range Research Center in Chisholm, Minn., and archivist for digital initiatives and university records at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.
At UB, Deloria is responsible for selecting, processing, preserving and providing access to historically significant records documenting the University. He offers research assistance to students, faculty, administrators and other patrons of Langsdale Library. He provides course-related instruction regarding the use of archives and special collections to meet the information needs of students in a variety of disciplines.
Deloria's research interests are focused on the definition of a record in the digital age, management of electronic records and the impact of the increasingly ephemeral nature of communication on the historical record. As the University archivist, he finds greatly rewarding the opportunity to learn more about the history of UB on a daily basis.
In his free time, Deloria enjoys running, messing about in boats, trout fishing, reading, fine bookbinding and painting in oils.
