Assurance of Learning: B.A. in English
Mission Statement: The undergraduate English program serves as a space for the preservation and practice of traditional humanities. Our students develop critical thinking and writing skills that prepare them for future study, the world of work, and lifelong learning. The B.A. in English offers students individual and tailored programs of study in which they create and analyze texts across a variety of media with attention to language; historical, critical, and cultural contexts; aesthetics; and form.
Program-Level Student Learning Outcomes
Upon graduating from the B.A. in English program, students will be able to:
- write effectively for a range of purposes and audiences
- employ critical frameworks in the analysis of texts
- apply relevant social, cultural, and historical contexts in the creation and examination of texts
- construct a critical argument through research and analysis.
