Admission Standards

Print this page and use it as an application checklist.

What we expect of you:

  • a master's degree in public administration or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university
  • five to 10 years of significant management or related work experience.

What we need from you:

  1. Complete and submit the online application and pay the $30 application fee. (To pay in-state tuition, you must submit the Maryland In-State Residency form).
  2. Request that an official transcript of all prior college or university work (including graduate courses, if applicable) be sent directly from each institution attended; electronic transcripts are encouraged.
  3. Submit a statement of personal interest in the program of study.
  4. Have three professors or employers submit letters of recommendation on your behalf; these should be sent to the Office of Graduate Admissions in sealed envelopes with signatures across the sealed portion.
  5. Have your GRE scores sent directly from the testing agency; UB's code is 5810. Your scores should be no more than five years old. If you have taken the GMAT but not the GRE, those scores may be substituted. (You must submit scores from one of these tests; we do not issue exceptions or waivers.)

International students have a slightly different admission process and must submit additional documentation.

Send all materials to the University of Baltimore Office of Graduate Admissions, 1420 N. Charles St., Baltimore, MD 21201.

Application deadlines:

  • fall semester admission onlyApril 1

You may enter the program and start graduate classes only in the semester for which you are admitted (i.e., if you have been admitted for the fall semester, you cannot take courses during the preceding summer session).

We encourage you to submit your complete application and all supporting materials as soon as possible prior to the deadline. Applications are reviewed immediately after the deadline has passed, and admission decisions are made within a month following the deadline.
