Assurance of Learning: B.S. in Forensic Studies
Mission Statement: The Bachelor of Science in Forensic Studies provides an applied education that integrates academic and professional skills. The purpose of the program is to develop students’ understanding of the theory, practice and application of forensic science. The program provides the knowledge and preparation for handling evidentiary materials, using investigative technology, and preserving of evidence. The program prepares students to be field-ready graduates to compete successfully for immediate employment in the forensic science field.
Program-Level Student Learning Outcomes
Upon graduating from the B.S. in Forensic Studies program:
Learning Outcome #1: Students will be able to understand the relevance of historical, strategical and tactical forensic concepts.
Learning Outcome #2: Students will be able to apply fundamentals of investigation and evidence collection to actual situations.
Learning Outcome #3: Students will be able to analyze collected trace evidence materials for its evidentiary value in solving crime and processing cases in the criminal justice system.
Learning Outcome # 4: Students will be able to communicate effectively in translating evidentiary findings into both oral and written reporting for field work, professional reporting and court testimony.
Learning Outcome #5: Students will be able to apply analytical and investigative forensic science techniques necessary for future employment in the criminal justice system.
