Student Fee Adjustments for the Spring 2020 Term
The COVID-19 pandemic changed the way the University of Baltimore offered courses and required our community to change to a remote learning setting. As such, the University authorized a $493,734 adjustment to the Student Services, Auxiliary Operating and Student Government (SGA or SBA) mandatory fees. The fee adjustment reflects the applicability of each fee in a fully online learning environment. As fee services are not provided equally over time and many of them are event-based, we evaluated each service and determined which would not be provided online and developed an appropriate adjustment amount. Additionally, we evaluated each adjustment in consideration of the four academic sessions within the spring 2020 semester. The pro-rated fee amount is based on March 23, the day remote classes began. An explanation of mandatory fees is available here. The Office of the Bursar has now applied a credit to each affected student account. The credit reflecting the flat and per credit hour adjustment for each of the four terms of the spring 2020 semester.

Consider several important factors when calculating your specific adjustment.
- Any course dropped or withdrawn from, prior to March 23, did not receiving an adjustment. If there is an extenuating circumstance that required your drop or withdrawal, prior to March 23, an official appeal needs to be submitted. Please reference this link.
- Mandatory fees for full time enrollment cap at 12 credits. For students whose enrollment exceeded 12 credits during this semester; adjustments were calculated at the per credit hour rate, up to the 15 week rate multiplied by 12 credits (whichever amount was higher).
- The fee adjustment has posted as a credit to your student account and will first be applied to any outstanding balance. Any remaining balance will be disbursed to each student by a refund check via the State of Maryland. Please be sure to update your local mailing address on the MyUB portal.
- You can track your refund by logging into the Maryland Online Services Center. To use this site, register as a vendor using your taxpayer id number or your social security number. The University of Baltimore agency code R28.
