Graduate Student Senate

The Graduate Student Senate (GSS) serves as the primary representative body for graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in the Robert G. Merrick School of Business and the Yale Gordon College of Liberal Arts at the University of Baltimore.

GSS is here to listen to your opinions and voice your concerns to the administration. If you have any problems, concerns or comments please contact any member of the GSS Executive Board. For more information on our goal of supporting the university's graduate students, please read our Mission Statement.

Meet the Candidates:

Aisha Jones

aisha jones  My name is Aisha Jones and I am a Public Administration graduate student specializing in  Public Policy and Administration.  I am running for GSS because I am a natural born leader and public servant who would like to create a better higher educational environment for the graduate student body.  I am a team player who is not only a self motivator, but also approachable, easy going, honest, loyal and committed. It would be an honor to serve the graduate student body and I would appreciate the opportunity to be your voice of UB.


Alexander (AJ) Weiss

alexander weissMy name is Alexander (AJ) Weiss and I'm a MBA student specializing in
Sports Management. I have experience in clubs and organizations from my undergraduate studies as well as here at the University of Baltimore. I look forward to serving the student body while utilizing my skills and experience for the upcoming school year.

To become an informative source and     keep the lines of communication open between the school administration and the graduate student population is a purpose within itself why I would like to be elected. The most important factor motivating my candidacy is the state of our education. By acquiring a senatorial seat on GSS, graduate students can rely on being in the know.

Chang Liu 

chang liuAs an M.S. Accounting student, I decided to serve on the Graduate Student Senate not only to give back
to students, but to build my skills crunching numbers. As an elected senator, I'd use my skills throughout the year to help grad students with travel awards, at events, and working with other elected officers to making 
UB the best it can be.

Kelly Williams

kelly williamsMy name is Kelly Williams and I have served previously on the Graduate Student Senate; I am going for re-election as serving students is a passion of mine. I am currently a Negotation & Conflict Management major in the College of Liberal Arts and will use my previous experience with GSS to benefit all grad students.

I am a full-time MBA student running for the GSS executive board. It would be an honor to serve the graduate community at UB. As a student representative, I will advocate for a more supportive learning environment, as well as improved services at UB. It will be my priority to listen to student concerns and relay them to the administration.  I am ready to join the new GSS team in serving the interests of UB graduate students. Cari Watts

cari wattsAs a Negotiation and Conflict Management major, I have enjoyed the education offered to me by the University of Baltimore and feel that the Graduate Student Senate has helped to develop my real-world skills outside of the classroom. I have served more than 3 terms with GSS and have been voted in for a 4th term where I will continue to voice graduate student concerns with tenacity to make the UB experience an even better one.

Marcus Newton

marcus newtonThe University of Baltimore has provided me with a rare and exciting opportunity to pursue my career goals while serving graduate students in the Senate. As a full-time MBA student, a Graduate Assistant in the Admissions Office, and a nactive member of various clubs on UB campus, my unique perspective of student life affords me to opportunity to for you, the students, more effectively.
