Steve Kozak is a visiting executive in residence in Innovation Management and Technology Commercialization. Prior to joining UB, Kozak was the marketing director for the law firm of Offit Kurman. In that role he was responsible for the development of the overall strategic marketing plan for the firm. Working closely with the firm’s management committee, he developed annual budgets, established strategic marketing goals and provided oversight for all marketing plans at the attorney and firm-level. In June 2001, he joined the Greater Baltimore Technology Council (GBTC), Inc.as the assistant director and in 2005, he was appointed the executive director. As the executive director, Kozak was responsible for supervising all business operations and operational execution for the $1M nonprofit organization. He worked closely with the 32-member board of directors in support of the organization’s mission and strategic growth initiatives. He built and enhanced partnerships with non-profits, government entities, universities and other regional organizations throughout the State. During his tenure, membership revenues and programming increased 76 percent and 350 percent respectively. Prior to joining the GBTC, Steve was the Director of Business Development for an 80 employee ad agency and spent seven years at PHH Vehicle Management Services as a Product/Marketing Manager. He even spent some time as a Branch Manager for Encyclopedia Britannica. Over the past six years, Steve has taught the “Services Marketing” and the “Professional Experience” courses as an adjunct professor at Towson University. Steve earned his B.S. in Marketing from the University of Maryland and a M.B.A. in Marketing from Loyola University Maryland. He is also on the Board of Governors for the University of Maryland, Alumni Association.
