Engineering News-Record magazine has selected the John and Frances Angelos Law Center—home of the University of Baltimore School of Law and a landmark building for both legal education and sustainable construction and design—for inclusion in its regional and national 2013 "Best of the Best Projects" list.
UB's center landed on top in the category of Higher Education/Research Project. The submission to ENR's competition was made by Baltimore's Ayers/Saint/Gross, which partnered with Behnisch Architekten of Stuttgart, Germany for the building's design and engineering.
"The competition began in May with a call for entries to the construction industry, which resulted in around 700 project teams submitting their best work to the regional Best Projects competitions," wrote Scott Blair, a bogger for ENR's website. "Once the regional winners were chosen, the top winners in each category from each region moved up to the national competition. A brand new set of judges from across the country and from all walks of the industry examined each project in an effort to distinguish the best from the best in terms of teamwork, safety, overcoming challenges, innovation and quality."
