C. Alan Lyles, professor in both the University of Baltimore's School of Health and Human Services and School of Public and International Affairs, has been appointed to a position on the editorial advisory panel of the International Pharmacy Journal.
Lyles's professional interests focus on pharmaceutical economics and health policy—particularly international education, medicines and evidence—and lifestyle consequences for health. He has published and lectured extensively in the United States and abroad. He was visiting chair of pharmacoeconomics (2006) and a Fulbright Senior Specialist (2007 and 2011) at the University of Helsinki. Lyles has been chair of the Maryland Drug Use Review Board; chair of the Association of American Medical Colleges' Group on Institutional Planning; president of Delta Omega, Alpha Chapter, a national public health honor society; and he serves on the board of the National Academy of Public Administration.
"Strategic changes are underway for the International Pharmacy Journal and I feel fortunate to be a part of those," Lyles said. "As a member of its editorial advisory panel, my contributions will cover scientific communications on access to medicines and services. These range from policy to practice initiatives, including innovative professional education and research."
The International Pharmacy Journal is the official journal of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), a non-governmental organization based in The Hague, the Netherlands that supports "the development of the pharmacy profession, through practice and emerging scientific innovations, in order to meet the world's health care needs and expectations." With a membership that includes national organizations, academic institutions and individuals, FIP represents over three million pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists worldwide. The journal is currently a digital publication accessible to members of FIP.
