Interviewed on MSNBC, Professor Jeffrey Ian Ross from the University of Baltimore's School of Criminal Justice says that prison officials and inmates, like those in the upstate New York correctional facility where two convicts recently escaped, often have close relationships.
"Inmates are constantly testing the boundaries" of their relationships with prison officials, Ross said. They hope to gain extra privileges or have some advantage over their fellow inmates.
Ross provided expertise for coverage of the recent escape of two felons from a prison in upstate new York.
