UB/Towson MBA Advertising Earns National CASE Award

The advertising campaign for the UB/Towson MBA earned a Silver award in the international 2015 Circle of Excellence Awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). The campaign, including advertising and marketing, a website, and collateral materials, was launched last year to celebrate and build awareness for the MBA's revised curriculum.
The campaign addressed a key differentiator in the program: the ability to customize an MBA to meet students' specific career goals. Since its launch between October and November last year, fall 2014 enrollment increased by 12.7 percent over the previous year, representing the program’s highest enrollment in four years.
According to CASE, its Circle of Excellence awards recognize outstanding work in advancement services, alumni relations, communications, fundraising and marketing. This year's competition received the highest number of entrees in the event's history—more than 3,200 entries in nearly 100 categories by more than 720 member higher education institutions, independent schools and nonprofits from around the world. Winners are selected based on a number of factors, including overall quality, innovation, use of resources and the impact on the institution or its external and internal communities. CASE assembles expert judging panels made up of professionals in the fields of advancement services, alumni relations, communications, fundraising and marketing.
The judges' comments for the Silver award to the UB/Towson MBA cited the campaign's "creative execution … which generated solid results."
"The ingenuity of the 'MBA' symbol, and effective combination of two organizational logos provided great creative layout without cluttering the advertisements," the judges said. "The campaign produced and overarching message that compels the audience to want to learn more."
