College of Public Affairs Fulbright Scholar in Residence José Florencio Fernández Santillán, whose research focuses on the political process, social reforms, and the rule of law in Mexico, will deliver a lecture, "Social Violence and Criminality: A Comparison Between Baltimore and Mexico," on Nov. 10. It will take place beginning at 5 p.m. in the M. Scot Kaufman Auditorium in the William H. Thumel Sr. Business Center (home of the Merrick School of Business), 11 W. Mt. Royal Ave. The event is free and open to the public. An R.S.V.P. is required. Details are listed below.
Santillán, professor of political science in the Department of Legal and Social Studies at the Tecnológico de Monterrey (Campus Ciudad de México), is spending a semester teaching and conducting research at the University of Baltimore as a Fulbright Scholar in Residence, beginning this fall. Santillán, winner of several teaching and scholarship awards in his native Mexico, will be on faculty in UB's College of Public Affairs.
