In an op-ed in The Baltimore Sun, Roger Hartley, dean of the University of Baltimore's College of Public Affairs, writes that local college campuses can improve the city by highlighting their involvement in solving local problems and promoting Baltimore's potential.
"It's disturbing to see our communities judged by those who often have never been here or have media-driven, negative perceptions," Hartley writes. "To my own university, the University of Baltimore, to every other campus in metropolitan Baltimore, and especially those who wish to change the conversation about our city: We should tout Baltimore and its possibilities. This can be done without trying to paint over reality."
