Quoted in Vice, Jeffrey Ian Ross, professor of criminal justice in the University of Baltimore's College of Public Affairs, says that when inmates leave the federal prison system, the chances of their successful reentry into society may depend on the predictability of their daily lives.
"[T]he reentry process varies widely from jurisdiction to jurisdiction," the article says, noting that Ross identifies a range of people the newly released ex-convict may face on the outside, including "correctional personnel, representatives from the federal prosecutor's office, potential employers, and a cadre of volunteers, some of whom are ex-cons."
