The University of Baltimore community is remembering Prof. Berry Grant, M.B.A. '01, B.S., '87, a member of the faculty in the School of Criminal Justice, who passed away on Sunday, Feb. 26. Prof. Grant served as the program director for the graduate program in Forensic Science and High-Technology Crime and executive in residence, where he worked diligently to increase the program's enrollment to more than 100 students and make it one of the top producers of cyber security experts in the state.
A former city police detective and a police officer, Prof. Grant was a strong supporter of our students and a wonderful colleague and friend.
"His dedication to the program was beyond measure, and as such, he has left an indelible mark on our School," said Prof. Debra Stanley, the school's executive director. "But even more importantly, Professor Grant's unselfish and compassionate nature made him a dear friend and mentor to many in our School. Words cannot adequately express the loss we feel at his passing."
In his professional life, Prof. Grant also served as a senior fraud investigator for MECU, and was chair of the Fraud Roundtable at the Maryland and DC Credit Union Association.
A memorial fund in Prof. Grant's has been established. Learn more about it here.
