The University of Baltimore and the Community College of Baltimore County are partnering to introduce the new BeeLine program, which will accelerate the transfer process as well as facilitate faster completion of UB undergraduate programs for CCBC students. UB President Kurt L. Schmoke and CCBC President Sandra Kurtinitis signed the new program's formal agreement during a ceremony on May 10 in the Center for the Arts Lounge at CCBC Catonsville.
Through the BeeLine program, CCBC students are offered special incentives and structured pathways for attaining a four-year degree from UB. Students are granted guaranteed admission and are able to seamlessly transfer to UB into any of its bachelor's degree programs—excluding those with special permission requirements. The UB application fee will be waived plus, CCBC students with a 2.5 GPA or higher are eligible for a transfer scholarship which is renewable up to the completion of their bachelor's program.
"We are always thrilled to have CCBC students come to UB to start the next phase of their higher education," said President Schmoke. "Our BeeLine program is designed to make transferring a seamless, enjoyable process. All of us at UB are excited to join our colleagues at CCBC in launching this program—we're expecting many great things to be inspired by the partnership."
"CCBC is excited about this new partnership with UB that makes student transfers between the two institutions effortless," said CCBC President Kurtinitis. "Students find comfort in knowing that their hard-earned credits will be accepted when they move on to pursue a bachelor's degree. This new partnership creates an excellent opportunity for CCBC students as well as provides both institutions the opportunity to move more students through the educational pipeline."
Other incentives built into the agreement include UB accepting CCBC Honors students with a 3.5 GPA or higher into its Helen P. Denit Honors program, the opportunity for CCBC students to participate in UB's accelerated bachelor's to master's degree program and UB's promotion of reverse transfer for CCBC students who transferred to UB without completing their associate degree.
The BeeLine program contributes to Maryland's completion initiative by increasing associate degree attainment and providing momentum for baccalaureate completion. Students can begin transferring through the BeeLine program immediately.
