A group of 60 city students, ranging in age from 15 to 20, recently completed CodeWorks, a computer coding bootcamp run by the nonprofit Code in the Schools. Established by UB alumna Gretchen LeGrand, M.S. '10, Code in the Schools encourages young people to learn about computer languages while they earn college credit, including from the University of Baltimore.
The five-week course, which included sessions with Baltimore tech innovators and entrepreneurs, reflects real life by paying its students through the Baltimore Office of Employment Development's YouthWorks summer jobs program.
LeGrand is a graduate of UB's Applied Psychology-Counseling Psychology master's program.
