Chris Wilson, a University of Baltimore student, entrepreneur, artist, mentor and speaker, will talk about his life experiences at a fundraising event for UB's Second Chance program on Feb. 28. The event will be held at Sotto Sopra in Mt. Vernon.
Second Chance is UB's post-secondary correctional education program, offered at Jessup Correctional Institution, a medium-security prison for men. As of the spring 2018 semester, 47 students are enrolled and working toward a Bachelor of Arts degree. UB has also developed a mentorship and tutoring program for the JCI students. The program's mentors and tutors are incarcerated men at JCI who are active leaders and role models in the prison. Many of the mentors have a college education and are strongly committed to higher education.
