'Music and Words' Brings Together Music by Faculty, Words by Students, May 9

"Music and Words," a performance that will integrate music by a University of Baltimore faculty member combined with words written by students in UB's M.F.A. in Creative Writing and Publishing Arts program, will take place on Wednesday, May 9 at 7 p.m. in the Wright Theater in the UB Student Center, 21 W. Mt. Royal Ave. (A reception wll take place beginning at 6:30 p.m.) The event is free and open to the public.
"Music and Words" will feature acclaimed New York City baritone Jeffrey Gavett, joined by Integrated Arts Director Ian Power on piano, performing a new composition by Power that sets text written collaboratively by the students. Other pieces of contemporary song will be performed, including another composition of Power's that sets a text from Don Quixote for an actor, to be read by jurisprudence major Emma Offiah. Video art by Digital Communications students Brittany Crane and Vanessa Bergey will be featured before and during the event. The "Music and Words" poster was designed by Integrated Design student Katie Watkins.
