National Black Poetry Day is Thursday, Oct. 17, and the University of Baltimore's M.F.A. in Creative Writing and Publishing Arts will celebrate the occasion with readings from the community on that day, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Room 308 of the Liberal Arts and Policy Building, 10 W. Preston St. The event, organized by M.F.A. student and poet May Brymn, is free and open to the public.
"What inspires me as a poet are the untold stories that live inside me," Brymn says, "the ones anxious to exhale their first breath. And I truly want my peers to feel that way, too."
