The University of Baltimore community is mourning the passing of retired Maryland Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, who died on Jan. 15. Miller, who retired last month, served the citizens from parts of Calvert, Charles and Prince George's counties. He holds the record as the longest-serving state Senate leader in Maryland history, with 33 years on the job.
Maryland Senate president emeritus Miller "was a great supporter of higher education in general and UB specifically," said UB President Kurt L. Schmoke. "His passing marks the end of an era in state politics and in Maryland history."
