The Stars We Share, the debut novel by University of Baltimore alumnus and long-time adjunct faculty member Rafe Posey, MFA '11, is receiving positive reviews in national publications. Its publisher, Viking/Pamela Dorman Books, describes the World War II-era story as "a sweeping, atmospheric novel of sacrifice, ambition, and commitment, and the secrets we keep from the ones we love."
Kirkus Reviews called Posey's prose "a joy, evocative and expertly cadenced," while Library Journal named the book as a featured title on its Best Debut Novels of Spring and Summer 2021. Booklist describes The Stars We Share as a "compelling debut."
Prof. Posey teaches in the UBalt Writing Program, most recently in the University's Second Chance College Program at Jessup Correctional Institution. His writing has been featured in Urbanite, Empty Sink, Poydras Review, and The Light Ekphrastic, and other publications. His MFA in Creative Writing and Publishing Arts chapbook collection, The Book of Broken Hymns, was a 2012 Lambda Literary Awards finalist.
