The University of Baltimore School of Law will unveil its new lunch-and-learn series, "Lawyers as Leaders," with a panel discussion on Friday, Sept. 13 starting at noon. The opening session, "Lawyers as Leaders: Authentic Leadership," will bring together four UBalt Law alumni to discuss the importance of staying true to oneself in the demanding legal profession. Effective leaders, they note, show up authentically and inspire others to do their best work. All "Lawyers as Leaders" sessions are free and open to the public. Registration information is listed below.
Participants in the "Authentic Leadership" session include Baltimore City Solicitor Ebony Thompson, J.D. '13; Kramon & Graham principal David Shuster, J.D. '94; former Children's Defense Fund executive Rexanah Wyse Morrissette, J.D. '13; and panel moderator, Johns Hopkins Dean Jill Green, J.D. '94. The session will take place in the school's John and Frances Angelos Law Center, 1401 N. Charles St.
The three-part "Lawyers as Leaders" series, with panels taking place in September, October and November, will cover essential leadership topics such as authentic leadership style, change management, and building a positive culture. The Sept. 13 discussion is a call to action for lawyers to lead with vulnerability and authenticity. Participants will explore the power of self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and empathy—the core ingredients of an authentic leadership style that builds trust, inspires teams, improves communication and problem solving, and drives meaningful change.
