At The University of Baltimore, getting out the vote is an important part of the life of the community. Students, faculty and staff all work together to encourage voter participation—activity that has been recognized both locally and nationally. Now, the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge has honored UBalt for having both the highest voting rate for a four-year institution and the highest voter registration rate for a four-year institution, for efforts the institution made during the 2022 election cycle. For the third time since 2016, the University has received a Gold Campus award from the ALL IN Challenge.
UBalt's success in this area depends heavily on student participation in voter engagement.
"To put it simply, we encourage voting in the same way we value teaching and learning: Being an engaged, informed individual supports community, creates opportunity, and makes the world, perhaps, a little easier to understand," says UBalt President Kurt L. Schmoke.
While the University works to encourage voter registration, it also supports the training of election judges, poll workers, and others involved in the process.
Anyone seeking information on voter registration is encouraged to drop by this site.
"Let's congratulate the many members of our student body, faculty and staff who work to keep UBalt's ranking at the top of this crucial metric for civic involvement," President Schmoke says. "And, when you can, get out there and vote."
