Senior Governance

University of Baltimore Office of the President

Senior governance is structured to provide input from the academic and student services area; assure continued strategic direction for major University initiatives; coordinate those initiatives across multiple campus units; and strengthen community at UB.

The governance structure consists of the following:

The Cabinet

Duties include:

  • developing and monitoring strategies for successful implementation of critical cross-divisional initiatives consistent with our strategic plan and other top priorities for the University
  • assuring that all units are consulted and fully brought into the process of managing strategic priorities 
  • discussing key trends and issues that must be addressed to maintain the University’s success
  • identifying and resolving the adjustments (e.g., resource requirements, procedure changes, policy modifications) needed for larger projects and initiatives
  • deliberating and making final recommendations to construct a responsible and responsive University-wide budget consistent with strategic goals
  • receiving status reports (e.g., enrollment, expenditures, usage rates, etc.).

The Executive Committee

The Executive Committee, chaired by the President, will be attended by the Provost, the Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance, the Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management and the Vice President of Planning and External Affairs, with support from the Executive Director for Presidential Operations and Special Projects. The Executive Committee will assist in shaping Cabinet meeting agendas, making final decisions on budgets, and advancing sensitive issues related to external University relations. Other staff reporting to the President will join Executive Committee meetings as needed.

The President's Leadership Forum 

This group, chaired by the President, will consist of the Cabinet’s key direct reports.  By convening a broader group of leaders whose work supports effective change at the University, the campus community can achieve greater clarity on key initiatives and decisions and sustain high-level coordination for UB’s multiple priorities. Meetings will be called on an as-needed basis.
