FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid
What is a FAFSA?
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step in applyingfor student aid. It is the document that the federal government uses to determinehow much of your tuition you are able to pay, and how much money you are eligibleto receive.
Although the paper version of the FAFSA does exist, the fastest and most accurate way to complete a FAFSA is online. Complete your FAFSA online.
Tips for Completing Your FAFSA:
- You will need your Federal Income Tax Return and W-2s with you in order to fill out the FAFSA.
- Remember to include University of Baltimore's school code on your FAFSA: 002102
- If you choose to do an estimated FAFSA, be sure to open your FAFSA later with your PIN and fill in the accurate amounts from your completed Federal Tax Return.
After Submitting FAFSA
After submitting the FAFSA, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) . When you receive it:
- review the SAR online and make any corrections
- if asked, submit your tax returns, W-2s, verification worksheet, any other requested document to the UB Financial Aid Office.
- You will then receive an award notice that tells you the type and amount of aid you are eligible to receive.
When you receive it:
- decide which awards you want to accept or reject
- return the award notice to the Financial Aid Office only if you are declining or reducing your award.
Students who are disabled AND need assistance in filling out paperwork, working on the computer, etc. should contact the Disability Support Services office for assistance. Email disability@ubalt.edu or call 410.837.4775 (TTY 410.837.5751) to schedule an appointment.
