Security Awareness and Crime Prevention Programs

University of Baltimore Public Safety

SECURITY AWARENESS:

During orientations each semester students and employees are informed of services offered by the Department of Public Safety.  Video, powerpoint, and lectures outline ways to maintain personal safety on and off campus.  Crime prevention programs are offered on a continual basis throughout the academic year or upon request.

A common theme of awareness and crime prevention programs is to encourage the campus community to be aware of their responsibility for their own security and the security of other campus members.  The Department of Public Safety's overall message to the students, faculty and staff is to "act as an extra pair of eyes and ears" and report anything that makes them feel uncomfortable or looks suspicious.  "If it doesn't look right, it probably isn't - REPORT it!
