An employee should discuss their initial salary as well as any other salary questions with their supervisor. Although salary increases are not guaranteed, employees who consistently meet the performance standards of their position may be granted periodic adjustments.

Salary increases may also result from promotions to higher level positions or from reclassifications of positions on the basis of changes in duties and responsibilities. Increases may also result from market adjustments and/or cost-of-living adjustments (COLA).
