Q: Which parking areas will be available to faculty and staff for the spring 2010 semester?
A: The brand-new Fitzgerald Garage on Oliver Street will become available. Also, the Maryland Avenue Garage and the Cathedral Street Lot will remain available.
The Mount Royal Lot will continue to be available for premium parking. The North Charles Street Lot will continue to be available for premium parking until approximately July 2010, when construction begins on the new John and Frances Angelos Law Center.
Note that interim parking facilities at the Meyerhoff, Symphony Center and Belvedere garages will no longer be available. December 18, 2009 is the last day for these parking facilities.
See the 2010 parking map.
Q: Will parking rates change as of the spring 2010 semester?
A: No, the current faculty and staff rates will remain in effect for those with pre-tax paycheck deductions and those who pay monthly parking rates.
However, if faculty and staff members who park only occasionally are currently paying per park in UB garages and lots, they will pay higher rates as of the spring 2010 semester (see the table below) ; this was negotiated, discussed and decided with input from all appropriate administrative and shared governance bodies. Note that student parking rates are also increasing as of the spring 2010 semester.
Q: I currently pay the $4 flat rate every time I park (pay-per-park plan). How much will I pay to park beginning the spring 2010 semester?
A: The rates shown in the table below are applicable to those faculty and staff members using a parking access card who do not pay for parking via pre-tax paycheck reductions or a monthly rate. For example, a faculty or staff member who deposits $301 or more onto the parking access card will pay $4.32 to park for as long as 3.5 hours (third column). The applicable parking rate depends on the last deposit made; therefore, a faculty or staff member who initially deposited $301 and has since depleted the funds, but then makes a subsequent deposit of $100 or less will reset the rate for up to 3.5 hours of parking to $5.32 (first column).

Q: Can I keep the same parking access card that I have now?
A: Yes, you can use the same card that you have now to park at the Fitzgerald Garage. Faculty and staff members who are currently registered for the pay-per-park plan can use any remaining funds on their card toward the new rates.
Q: I seldom drive to campus and do not wish to register for a parking access card. Can I nevertheless park in UB facilities?
A: Yes, you can park in UB's Fitzgerald and Maryland Avenue garages even if you don't register for a parking access card; you can pay hourly rates with a credit or debit card or with cash as indicated in the table below.
