No matter what you are studying, you need demonstrated leadership skills to meet your goals at work, at school and in your community.
Leadership UB offers workshops on an array of important leadership topics, connects you to community service opportunities that will make a difference in the lives of others and enables you take advantage of real leadership experiences at UB and beyond. Upon completion of the required activities, you will become certified as an Emerging Leader and will then be eligible to further your leadership development at the Established and Experienced levels.
As a participant in Leadership UB, you will meet other aspiring leaders and learn from skilled faculty, staff and presenters from the business community. You will be exposed to other events and resources available at UB and have the chance to hone your new leadership skills through participation in a campus organization or in student government. Many of our participants have gone on to great success in student organizations and government—which later translated to even greater success in their careers.
Leadership certification requires the completion of a combination of workshops, campus engagement experiences and community service activities as well as written reflections on the five core values of leadership.
Leadership UB is based on student learning and development outcomes developed by the Council for Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (www.cas.edu). It supports the University of Baltimore’s learning goals and is founded on the principles of the Social Change Model of Leadership (Higher Education Research Institute, University of California, Los Angeles).
