The University of Baltimore (UB) is one of eleven degree-granting institutions in the University System of Maryland (USM). UB is located at 1420 North Charles Street in the heart of Baltimore's Mt. Vernon cultural district. The campus is located just one mile north of the picturesque Inner Harbor. The downtown campus includes 11 buildings and 4 parking areas. UB's mission centers on providing innovative education in law, business and the applied liberal arts to serve the needs of a diverse population.
A public university, the University of Baltimore offers excellent teaching and a supportive community for upper-division undergraduate, graduate and professional students in an environment distinguished by academic research and public service. UB's institutional vision is to become a living-learning laboratory at the center of the Baltimore renaissance. By blending the perspectives of law, liberal arts and business, the University of Baltimore community will create and transmit ingenious solutions to challenging issues regionally, nationally and internationally. The 2004-2007 Strategic plan is available at http://www.ubalt.edu/strategic_plan/strat_plan.html. It is recommended reading for those interested in the UB.
The University has approximately 5,400 commuter students of whom 2,798 are full-time and 2,617 are part-time. The median age of our students is 27. Currently, UB does not offer resident housing (dorms) to students.

Small and Disadvantaged Business Programs At the University of Baltimore
The State of Maryland has established a goal of achieving 25% of the value of all contracts with certified Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs).
Thanks to an aggressive campaign, the University System of Maryland achieved 15.2% and issued almost $110 Million in contracts to certified MBE firms. In July 2001 the State increased the goal of awarding contracts to Minority Business Enterprises from 14% to 25%.
The University of Baltimore fully supports integration of minority-owned,
small and disadvantaged businesses as University Contractors. Source lists to be utilized include:
State of Maryland Minority Business Enterprise Directory (http://mbe.mdot.state.md.us/cgi-bin/mbedir/mbedirectory) and the The Small Business Administrations web site (www.sba.gov) .
To fulfill the UB Small Business Program the Procurement Office works with Principal Investigators to develop, prepare, and execute individual subcontracting plans and to monitor performance relative to subcontracting requirements contained in the Small Business Master Subcontracting Plan. We Develop and maintain bidders lists of SB, HUBZone, SDB, SVOB and WOSB firms and ensure that procurement packages are structured to permit small and disadvantaged businesses to participate to the maximum extent practicable.
