Steven D. Cohen, assistant professor in the University of Baltimore's Klein Family School of Communications Design and a specialist in showing others how to communicate more effectively, will lead a workshop on developing strategies for communicating as leaders in personal and professional settings, on Thursday, May 1 beginning at 4 p.m. in Room 003 in the William H. Thumel Sr. Business Center (home of the Merrick School of Business), 11 W. Mt. Royal Ave. The event is free and open to the public, although an R.S.V.P. is encouraged.
The workshop, "Communication Matters: Using Your Voice to Lead," will focus on using the power of your voice to communicate your leadership style and forge a pathway toward personal and professional success. It will include a discussion about leadership, voice, and communication, with the aim of improving your leadership skills. UB students also will benefit from understanding more about the wide range of leadership opportunities that exist on campus.
"I often remind my students that they don't need a lot of money or a fancy title to make an impact," Cohen said. "They only need the power of their voice and a willingness to step up and lead. During this workshop, we will explore how students and professionals can harness the power of communication to make other people trust them, follow them, and believe in them."
