Two entrepreneurial students from the University of Baltimore are finalists in Startup Maryland's Pitch Across Maryland Competitions. The two—Opeyemi Thomas and James Gerst—have been invited to a March 14 Startup Maryland showcase in Annapolis.
Thomas and his Roadi app will be among the "Overall Great Eight" finalists to pitch their venture opportunities at the STRT1UP Showcase that day. Gerst and his Hooyo's Tea venture, named one of three in the sub-category of Fan Favorites, also will be on hand for the selection of the winning fan favorite.
"The STRT1UP Showcase is the culminating event for the past year of Startup Maryland Ecosystem Building," Startup Maryland says in an announcement about the event. "The STRT1UP Showcase is where the 2017 STRT1UP Roadshow and Pitch Across Maryland competitions come to their grand finale."
During the event, finalists will meet with Maryland legislators, attend a workshop session on angel investors, learn about the state's Opportunity Zones, and more.
