In Section 5 of The University of Baltimore's Facilities Master Plan, the important topic of placemaking for the institution is addressed.
Essentially, placemaking efforts "foster a sense of place that reinforces the identity of UBalt and our brand," and provide "visual continuity of the institution's logos, colors, fonts, and graphic application." The FMP addresses the built environment, both interior and exterior, and achieves visual continuity for the physical campus.
Here are some examples of placemaking, which are expected to become part of the institution's physical fabric in 2025:
"Banner B" sign on Mt. Royal Avenue side
of the Thumel Business Center
Three-dimensional UBalt sign on Gordon Plaza
Night view of "Banner B" sign on Thumel Business Center
These elements are part of the first phase of placemaking via the FMP. More projects like this are expected in the near future. All campus buildings will receive these type of treatments, in order to better distinguish the UBalt campus in the midst of the busy midtown environment.
