The Digital Designer is responsible for bringing The University of Baltimore brand to life through the work of the Office of Marketing and Creative Services. Reporting to the Art Director, the Digital Designer serves as the office’s primary multimedia producer—managing and creating engaging and sophisticated videos, animations and still graphics in support of institutional awareness, branding, new student recruitment and student retention efforts. Responsibilities include but are not limited to conceptualizing and pitching new video storytelling opportunities, filming videos such as testimonial interviews, academic program overviews, campus/virtual tours and special events, and editing the footage using Adobe Premiere Pro.
This position is also responsible for managing and executing a variety of design-based projects, including electronic invitations, social media ads/graphics, digital publications and web pages/websites as well as print projects such as brochures, postcards, invitations, posters and flyers.

Key Functions/Responsibilities/Tasks:
Produce, oversee and project-manage all video projects involving this office; develop creative solutions, manage production schedules, research best practices and current video trends, identify the appropriate media platforms and needs, coordinate with and manage freelance videographers, secure and prepare talent, facilitate script creation and lead editing efforts
Lead the design and production of selected University print and digital marketing projects—publications, invitations, signage, social media ads/graphics and web pages/sites—that contribute to branding, awareness, recruitment and retention efforts.
Communicate with project managers, clients and other marketing staff to deliver projects on schedule, within budget and according to internal standards and processes
Produce and prepare prepress files for print publications as well as digital content
Create and manage production schedules, address client feedback and identify additional needs and solutions as projects progress
Required Education:
Baccalaureate degree in design, fine art or related field/discipline
Required Experience:
Three years progressively responsible experience as a professional digital designer. Demonstrated skill in video production.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in designing for higher education or related field. Web content management system, HTML and CSS skills. Photography skills. After Effects experience is a plus.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Advanced knowledge and experience using Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including Adobe Premiere, to produce high-end video, motion graphics and digital and print publications
• Knowledge of the offset printing process and preparing files correctly for press
• Advanced understanding of the impact of design decisions (stock, ink, format choices) on printing processes, cost and schedule
• Demonstrated organizational and project management skills; ability to multitask, prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Experience in efficient execution of print and/online projects from concept development to completion
• Team player with excellent follow-through and communication skills and ability to work with various personalities
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Ability to add creative input on projects for which the whole team is responsible
• Ability to work under the creative direction of others and to take the lead on assigned projects while exercising independent thinking
• A strong video production and design portfolio that demonstrates mastery of skills in the following areas:
conceptual development, video production, typography, multipage publications, print design (illustrating an understanding of offset printing processes as well as stock and ink selection), digital design solutions and attention to detail
