University of Baltimore - The School of Health and Human Services of the College of Public Affairs invites applications for an open rank faculty tenure-track or executive-in-residence position in the Health Systems Management Program beginning no later than August 2014 (contingent upon final budgetary approval). This position requires traditional classroom instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate level, and will include teaching online courses. The position involves the oversight of all HSMG programs, graduate and undergraduate, offered at the Shady Grove Universities site (in Rockville, Maryland).
Candidates for this position must hold a Ph.D. or professional equivalent in Health Administration or a relevant health care specialization. Candidates should have a record of scholarly activities appropriate to the faculty rank being sought or substantial professional experience for the executive-in-residence position and clearly demonstrate the potential for quality university instruction, service to their profession and to the university. Areas of specialization include but are not limited to quantitative methods, health law, health planning, health finance and accounting, health insurance, healthcare process improvement, and marketing. This position requires that the person hired be an active member of the faculty who contributes to program development, governance, and sustainability. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Candidates will be joining a well-established program within the College of Public Affairs with a distinguished faculty of six full-time faculty. Faculty members have advanced degrees from Johns Hopkins University; Harvard University; the Maxwell School of Public Affairs at Syracuse University, the University of Maryland, Baltimore County; University of Texas at Houston School of Public Health and Carnegie Mellon University. Two members of the faculty are Fellows of the National Academy of Public Administration and one is a Fulbright Scholar.
The University of Baltimore, located in downtown Baltimore, is part of the University System of Maryland serving a diverse urban professional community. The School offers both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Health Systems Management. The undergraduate program is certified by the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA). Responsibilities for this position include teaching courses in both the B.S. and M.S. programs in Health Systems Management, and maintaining an active research and service agenda.
