Henry J. "Hank" Shea, senior distinguished fellow at the University of St. Thomas School of Law and former federal prosecutor, is the founder of a unique ethics program that involves giving joint presentations with more than a dozen felons—most of whom he prosecuted—for various groups.
He is bringing this program to UB School of Law in a talk titled "The Consequence of Public Corruption: An Insider's Story," a conversation with Richard Juliano, a lawyer and one-time deputy chief of staff to former Gov. George Ryan of Illinois.
Juliano pleaded guilty to mail fraud in 2002 and was a cooperating witness in one of Illinois’ highest-profile corruption cases, including the trials of Ryan and his associates. With former federal prosecutor Hank Shea serving as moderator, Juliano will describe the path that led to his misconduct in law school, the mentor and environment that led to his poor ethical choices, the consequences of those choices, and the lessons to be learned from his experiences.
